How Sigma and Databricks Simplify Cloud Analytics, Data Science, and Machine Learning Workflows

Data + AI Summit, the world’s largest data and AI conference, returns June 26-29, 2023 and Sigma is thrilled to be a sponsor! Attend either in-person or for free virtually to discover how the lakehouse brings together all your data so you can perform everything from BI to AI on a single, open platform.

Sigma and Databricks have partnered to create a unified and enhanced end-to-end data analytics platform. By integrating these platforms together, users can leverage the strengths of both to unlock new levels of data exploration, visualization, and model-driven insights.

Below is a reference architecture depicting how Sigma and Databricks can be used together with Data Science notebooks and Input Tables.

A flow chart of data sources and data bricks.

At Data + AI Summit, we will also announce the launch of Input Tables, an innovative feature that takes analytics collaboration to the next level. With Input Tables, Sigma users gain the ability to seamlessly input data directly into Databricks, leveraging robust capabilities to enhance data engineering, AI/ML, data science workloads and much more. Here are some of the use-cases for different user groups:

  • Business Leaders: By leveraging input tables, decision makers can actively interact with AI and ML models, leading to faster time to insights, deeper business awareness, and improved decision-making efficiency.
  • Data Teams: Sigma users can contribute data to the Databricks Lakehouse to enhance the existing data. This dynamic interaction adds agility and responsiveness to the analysis process, empowering data teams to enrich their own analyses along with their cloud data-warehouse.
  • Advanced Analytics Teams (Data Scientists, ML, AI, etc.): Tangible data and insights from business users becomes a valuable asset for enhancing and validating models. By continuously incorporating real-life data, models can be reinforced and improved in real-time without the need for complete retraining, resulting in accelerated time to insights and product.
