Sigma Awarded Snowflake BI Partner of the Year 2023

We’re thrilled to announce that we just hit our biggest milestone yet: Snowflake Business Intelligence Partner of the Year 2023. Announced Monday at Snowflake’s annual conference in Las Vegas, the award goes to the top partner organization in business intelligence.

Rob Woollen and Jason Frantz founded Sigma in 2014, understanding that Snowflake—the world’s leading data cloud—would fundamentally change the data landscape. But they also understood that to fully enable every company to engrain data as part of its culture and business process, business intelligence had to be redefined in this new cloud-first world. Only this change would deliver the kinds of productivity improvements that enterprises were seeking in the cloud data world.

Sigma delivers this next generation of business intelligence, as the first and only platform that enables users across the enterprise to freely explore, analyze, collaborate, and act on data at cloud scale. With a familiar spreadsheet user interface, and governance and security inherited from the warehouse, corporate data teams can empower users with secure self-service. Built natively on Snowflake, Sigma takes advantage of its many innovations, and has built beyond the bounds of business intelligence—for instance, as the first and only platform to allow users to directly add new data to the warehouse, improving analytics and enabling users to build predictive models, integrate Snowpark models, and create conditional workflows

Sigma has relentlessly pursued its vision to change business intelligence and empower all users to participate and improve productivity in the data cloud. We are humbled to be recognized in our journey, and will continue to innovate as Sigma becomes the de facto interface for business users into their data.

Beyond this award, Sigma's broad applicability has allowed us to be awarded six different industry competency badges, across: Finserv, Retail/Consumer Goods, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Technology, Media, and Manufacturing. Sigma's alignment with Snowflake extends to the teams supporting their joint customers with 50% of Sigma's Solution Engineering team having its Snowpro certification. Sigma is also listed as a Leader in the business intelligence category for Snowflake's Modern Marketing Data Stack Report.

At Sigma, we built a platform which harnesses cloud data warehouse power by extending access to all business users, while exceeding even the highest expectations for security, governance, and performance. Thousands of companies choose to store their data on Snowflake because of that world-class security and governance. With Sigma, companies of all sizes can be sure their data will never leave the warehouse, yet will still be freed up for fast analysis. In fact, many of our joint customers like Blackstone and US Foods unify their data and business teams using Sigma on Snowflake.

Sigma + Snowpark

Through our partnership with Snowflake, we unlock some of the hardest and most pressing challenges in the modern data stack. That includes accelerating our growth into AI and machine learning. With that, Sigma is a leading BI Partner for Snowpark’s recently announced machine learning-powered functions, providing a native integration within the Sigma platform.

Snowpark allows for the direct integration of custom ML models into Sigma. That means data teams can now access these models within a familiar user interface, use common spreadsheet commands to explore the data, and generate valuable insights quickly to make better decisions faster.

With Sigma & Snowpark, we’re helping to change the narrative of why 87% of data science projects fail to make it into production, by allowing data science teams an easy way to analyze their data, identify optimization opportunities, make recommendations, and monitor model usage. Meanwhile, we make using UDFs as simple as applying a Sum function for business users. Sigma on Snowpark includes key functionalities like Forecasting, Classification, Predictions, and Clustering/Segmentation

What’s Next for Sigma

In the past year, we’ve grown our workforce by more than 80%, launched a major feature called input tables, rebuilt our data visualizations from the ground up, jumped into AI adoption, and advanced our embedded analytics capabilities. And we truly mean it when we say it’s only the beginning of where we hope to go.

We believe business intelligence has reached a critical point as an industry. But even as we continue building AI into our product, we still believe that the greatest intelligence is human intelligence. That means AI-powered features with human-powered analysis. We’re not just building the modern data cloud, but the modern intelligence cloud. We hope you’ll join us for the next chapter.
