Sigma Expands Globally to Empower Business Users with Data Intelligence

Opens new UK Office as part of EMEA expansion

SAN FRANCISCO - November 20, 2023

Sigma, the first and only cloud data platform enabling business and technical users to collaborate and analyze live, at-scale data from their cloud data warehouse, today announced it is expanding operations to the United Kingdom to meet the rising need for data intelligence. The international expansion follows a year of triple-digit growth, enabling companies to make better use of their data without the need for deep technical expertise or coding.

“Sigma’s global expansion expands the data-empowered business landscape and increases productivity by making data accessible to everyone,” said Mike Palmer, Sigma CEO. “We are seeing demand increasing outside the US and our UK expansion will enable us to better serve our international customers and partners, while fostering a global community of data-driven businesses.”

Stuart Simmons Hired as Vice President of Sigma EMEA

Most recently serving as AVP Northern Europe for Lacework, Stuart has been instrumental in helping high-growth, pre-IPO SaaS organizations build high-performance GTM teams that combine sales excellence with market-leading demand generation frameworks. He has worked with MongoDB and Snowflake, following several years working in investment banking where he experienced first-hand just how critical it is to focus on customer outcomes.

“I’m honored to lead Sigma’s EMEA operations and confident that my leadership philosophy, which blends a value-based winning culture framework with world-class operating principles, will help us attract the very best talent to serve and delight our customers across EMEA,” said Stuart. “Our initial focus will be to build out our UK operations – we will then scale across EMEA as our customers and Sigma demands dictate.”

Strategic Alliances, Including UK-Based HyperFinity, Expand the Possibilities of Data

Sigma was recently named Snowflake Business Intelligence Partner of the Year, a testament to its commitment to forging alliances that bolster its ability to transform the way customers, across industries, access and leverage powerful data insights.

In 2023, the company formed a partnership with HyperFinity, a provider of data-led decision intelligence for retailers and brands. Sigma for HyperFinity provides a decision intelligence layer to modern tech stacks, enabling retailers to capitalize on the promise of data and artificial intelligence (AI). Unlike traditional BI tools, the solution is easily integrated with Snowflake and Snowpark, cost-effective and quick to deploy for all business users.

“Sigma is fundamentally changing the data landscape by enabling users across the enterprise to freely access and analyze their data to better understand their customers and respond to their needs,” said Damon Bryan, Co-Founder & CTO  at HyperFinity. “Partnering with Sigma, we are able to help our customers unlock the value of their data to make intelligent, data-led decisions around pricing, marketing and merchandising.”

Looking Ahead—Democratizing Data Around the Globe

Sigma is committed to extending its reach around the globe to empower businesses to increase productivity through better use of data. Its platform attracted 350 million queries from customers in the first half of 2023, alone, and its user base continues to grow. The company plans to continue refining its platform and nurturing strategic partnerships to promote a more data-empowered business landscape.
