Our platform, Wayfinder, streamlines data sourcing, engineering, preparation, as well as analysis.  Leveraging decades of healthcare and data science experience, our technology and data products accelerate analysis and deliver more accurate answers — so our customers can spend their time solving problems instead of cleaning up messy data.

Because Wayfinder is built on Databricks, we can deliver better access to our customers and easily integrate solutions like Sigma. With Sigma, we first built internal reporting tools for our finance team and then created fit-for-purpose reporting using Sigma for our customers.

Life before Sigma

Before discovering Sigma, we used a handful of different tools. I personally came from a Power BI background, and I used to be a hardcore, diehard Power BI fan. But Sigma made me realize there are other solid alternatives out there. At Kythera Labs, we've used Power BI and Tableau, and now we're using Sigma. Realistically speaking, we have customers that need us to work with Power BI, and other customers that need us to use Tableau. However what we found is that customers have a hard time managing that infrastructure with Power BI and with Tableau.

They're able to quickly get started and develop that proof of concept through to a final product.

We built Wayfinder on Databricks, which makes it simple for us to integrate Sigma, collaborate on and integrate new features, and deliver great compatibility across clouds and platforms. These integrations and capabilities simplify our customers’ data technology infrastructures so they can focus on analyzing quality data to help make decisions faster—which saves them a lot of time and money. 

Getting started with Sigma, we built reporting for our finance team, which allows for easier access to critical performance metrics. Now, we are working on developing reporting using Sigma which leverages our deep expertise in healthcare and life sciences. For example, we are working on embedding Sigma dashboards inside our Wayfinder so that our customers can easily connect to our quality data in ways that provide immediate value. Sigma presents a great way for our customers to explore our data assets with rich visualizations and, for many, immediately delivers ROI.

With Sigma we can then build dashboards that help customers visualize the data and insights to better understand findings and make decisions. For example, some customers use our solutions to determine where to open a clinic to better serve the community. Using Sigma alongside our data lets them see the best locations for a clinic based on their analysis.

Improved security: 

Sigma's built-in security features for embedding dashboards have proven to be both secure and easy to work with. There are multiple layers of security that help us develop a dashboard once — and then allow us to dynamically display the right data to each customer. With other tools we've leveraged, this would not have been as easily possible.
